Notice of Lien Receipt

A Notice of Lien Receipt is provided to the bank (typically by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)) and verifies placement of the bank's lien on a title. If the bank's lien is not placed, the loan will be unsecured.

A Notice of Lien Receipt is required when:

  • Borrower owns collateral
  • Purchase of titled collateral is not from a dealership
  • Borrower takes the original title and the Notice of Lien to the Tax Collector’s office in order to pay transfer fees and taxes.

Once completed, the Notice of Lien Receipt is uploaded to Synergy (consumer purpose) or Abrigo (business purpose). If all documents are “wet signed”, sent to loan servicing in the designated bag.
