Financial Accounting & Reporting

The Financial Accounting & Reporting department ensures the accuracy and integrity of the company's general ledger, accounting and reporting systems, and financial policies.

This department provides timely, comprehensive, and accurate financial reports while maintaining a system of internal accounting controls and procedures to ensure the accurate presentation of the company's financial position and the safeguarding of assets.

There are 4 primary areas that function within this department:

Accounting Operations

This area is responsible for the management and accuracy of the company's general ledger system, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, the accuracy of accounting journal entries, and the accuracy of secondary accounting systems for fixed assets and investments.

This area facilitates the accounting close for the company each month and at quarter-end and is responsible for identifying the root causes of general ledger account variances for company management. Monitoring, processing, and accounting for company expenditures are also key functions of this area.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

The associates in this area prepare the company's financial statements and periodic reports, always ensuring their accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and regulatory standards. This area is also responsible for gathering and interpreting data to uncover trends and variances in financial performance, both in the budget and actual expenditures.

Systems and Data Governance

This area manages all company accounting system and data used by the department. These associates provide expertise in systems analysis, design, and development to enhance and support the functionality and business processes of accounting and information systems.

This area also provides administration, maintenance, customization, and problem resolution support for these systems. In addition, they create and support custom or vender system applications, databases, and reporting functionality within these systems.

Financial Accounting & Reporting associates work directly with the Treasury department to establish and manage the corporate budget.

Profitability Reporting

Division managers are provided with historical information on a monthly basis related to the balance sheet and income statement for their respective areas of responsibility.

The profitability report helps management identify current trends in the financial statements and monitor non-interest income and expense items. Market presidents and department managers also receive these reports.
