Institutional Banking

Overview

Institutional Banking serves the Public Fund and large Non-Profit clients and prospects within the Capital City Bank geographic footprint. The Institutional Banking Group works with clients and prospects in a variety of capacities, including Lending, Deposits, and Treasury Management. Institutional Banking falls under Specialty Lending within the Core Market Lending division under Revenue.

The Institutional Banking department sets the Bank apart from our competitors. Institutional bankers manage relationships with government agencies, associations, non-profits, and foundations such as state, city, and county governments; school boards; tax collectors; property appraisers; law enforcement agencies; utility providers; hospitals; universities; charitable foundations; and community organizations.

Institutional bankers assist these institutions with borrowing needs by structuring tax-exempt and taxable credit facilities that meet the individual needs of each client. They also assist clients by offering advice on their annual budgets, helping them manage their cash flow, and working with our Treasury Management department to ensure their deposits are structured appropriately.

Since most community banks do not offer expertise in this field, Institutional Banking is a huge advantage to Capital City Bank. Some of the larger banks may offer this service, but they predominately focus on major institutions outside of our market area. Institutional Banking teams up with our local presidents to call on their institutional clients and prospects. Institutions within our markets know they are receiving personalized service from their local banker, as well as the expertise of an institutional banker, when they choose Capital City Bank.

The department is a large source of deposits for the Bank, and 95% of our institutional clients also take advantage of our Treasury Management products and services. One reason the loan portfolio is relatively small when compared to the deposit portfolio is that many of these institutions do not have borrowing needs, and when they do, the loans are typically short-term. This department specializes in specific types of loans, including tax, grant, and bond anticipation notes; infrastructure loans; equipment loans; construction loans; USDA guaranteed loans; and working capital lines of credit.

Institutional Banking is a highly specialized industry, and being competitive in this market requires expertise to provide the right solutions to our clients and prospects.

Public Fund Entity lending and deposits require unique rates, structures, and capacities that are vastly different from traditional lending. Ensuring that Capital City Bank Group can be both competitive in this space and maintain all regulatory requirements for these relationships is of paramount importance.

While our Institutional Banking Group can bring industry expertise to a client relationship, partnering with associates in the local market to increase client connectivity is also of critical importance.
