Several CCB offices have self-service safe deposit boxes rented to clients. Offices will not offer any new self-service boxes; however, clients who already have a self-service box will be allowed to keep their box.
If a client requests to change their self service safe box due to a lost key, size or price, the new box will be a dual control box. Complete a revised self-service contract only if an existing self-service client is making a change to their address or ownership.
To access a self service safe deposit box, do the following:
- Identify the client. Refer to Identification Verification Procedures.
- Complete the Vault Entrance Log with the following information:
- Date
- Time
- Comments section
- Box number
- Client last name
- Open the day gate (if applicable).
- The day gate to the safe deposit box area must be kept closed during banking hours.
- Obtain the client file from the safe deposit storage cabinet.
- Review the file for any cautionary flags (for example: red thumbnails hanging on folders or special notes attached to the outside of the folder) that may indicate the box is past due or has restricted access due to the death of the renter. If the box is in good standing, continue to step 5.
- Review the most current safe deposit box lease contract to verify the client is a renter. Note: The revision date is located at the top of the document.
- Confirm the person requesting box access is authorized to enter the box.
- Compare the identification signature with the Safe Deposit Lease Contract and Self Service Access Log before granting access to a safe deposit box.
- Complete the Self Service Access Log with the following information:
- Time and date of entry
- Authorized associate initials
- Client signature in the Access Signature field
- Box number
- The self-service client may remain in the vault area unattended or may use a privacy booth. The client does not log out upon leaving.
- Retain the Self Service Safe Deposit Box Access log in the clients safe deposit box file.
