Troubleshooting, Tips, and Tricks

Using Star U Online

Have you hit a snag in Star U Online? Have questions about how to use it? See this list of tips and tricks.

If you are having trouble inside an ABA course, see this article.

Use Chrome, not Internet Explorer, and not Edge.

IE and Edge do not work well with StarU Online, and IE is no longer supported by Microsoft.

Login Problems

This section covers problems logging in to StarU Online.

Make sure you are using Chrome.
Make sure you are going to the right place, ccbg.csod.com.

I Can't Reach the Login Page

StarU Online uses SSO to handle logging in. Once you log in once, you won't see a login page - you'll just go right in. However, if you can't reach the login page even once, follow these steps.

Have not signed up for DUO:

If you have never signed up for DUO, then usually you will not be able to reach the login page. Open a ticket with the helpdesk and ask them to give you the instructions to set up DUO. You will need a mobile phone.

Locked out of VPN:

If you have locked yourself out of VPN, then you are also locked out of SSO, because the same technology is used for both (DUO). Open a ticket with the helpdesk and ask them to reset your VPN password.

Remote connected to VPN:

  • If you are connected to VPNBKUP or VPNATL, disconnect and choose a different VPN.
  • If that does not work, see if your home or remote network is working correctly; if it is not, then try resetting the modem and/or router.
  • If none of these apply or work, then open a ticket with the helpdesk.

Office:

Try logging out of Windows and logging back on. If that does not work, open a ticket with the helpdesk.

I Can Reach the Login Page but My Credentials Do Not Work

Be sure you are using Chrome.

  1. Enter your network username (for example: jpublic) and then your network password. Double-check these to make sure they are correct.
  2. Click Submit.
  3. If you see the following result, open a ticket with the helpdesk.

  4. If you do not see this dialog box, try using your email address instead of your network username, and log in.
  5. If that does not work, open a ticket with the helpdesk.

What does error 403 mean?

If you are taking a course and you see the course display a screen like this one:

This means that StarU Online has timed out. If you do not do anything in a browser window for ten minutes, it displays a dialog box that asks you to click OK to ensure you are still using it. This displays in the browser window you used to log in to StarU Online, not in the course window.

Log back in to StarU Online and keep an eye on the browser window you used to log in. You may have to shrink the course window to see this other window. When you see the dialog box, be sure to click OK

Why doesn't the course display or launch?

If you click the Launch button for the course, but the course does not display, it is because your pop-up blocker is on.

  1. Log into StarU Online
  2. Right-click the lock by the URL.
  3. Click Site settings.
  4. Configure your settings to match these:
  5. Click X to close the Settings tab.
  6. If Star U Online asks you to refresh the page, do so. You may need to log in again.

Why doesn't the course complete?

Sometimes third-party courses (courses not developed by StarU) do not show complete. These are usually videos or video-heavy courses. This is a network problem. The workaround follows.

If you see this problem, do not take the entire course again.

Instead, do the following:

  1. Log into StarU Online
  2. Click My Transcripts. Your transcript displays.
  3. Search for the course.
  4. Launch the course.
  5. Inside the course, make sure that it is showing your progress as 100%. This may look like a green checkmark in each section, a green dot by each section, and so on. If a particular section is not complete, the course will not complete; make sure that all sections of the course are complete before going further
  6. Navigate to the last section and watch the video again or complete the activity again. Once you are done, wait 10 seconds afterwards.
  7. Exit the course.
  8. In your transcript, view the status of your course. It should show complete.
