What professional development resources are available?
Your professional development hours can be fulfilled using a variety of learning opportunities, including:
- Online courses or videos in StarU Online
- Classroom or virtual training, from StarU or external sources
- Webinars and podcasts
- Videos, articles, books, or other external sources
How do I see the number of hours I've earned this year?
Professional development hours are tracked in StarU Online using hours. To see your professional development hours, do the following:
- Log in to StarU Online.
- Click Learner Home.
- In the top left box, note the number after Hours.
Do all the courses in StarU Online count towards my goal?
No. Many courses in StarU Online help you satisfy your goal, but not all of them. This table lists the most common course types and whether or not they qualify for credit.

How many courses do I need to satisfy my goal?
It depends on the length of the training. Some courses in StarU Online are short and count for a partial hour while others are comprehensive and count for multiple hours. If you attend a conference, it may satisfy your entire goal. When in doubt, contact StarU for assistance.

How do I get credit for my hours?
When you complete online training or replays of instructor-led training in StarU Online, you automatically receive credit towards your hours.
For live training completed in-person or virtually, the instructor must submit the class roster to have the attendance/credit manually updated in StarU Online. This process can take a few days. If several days have passed and your attendance still has not been registered. reach out to the Training Contact for the session.
To find the Training Contact for your session, do the following:
- In StarU Online > My Transcript locate the session you are checking for credit.
- Click View Training Details.
- The Training Contact is listed in the top information panel.
Note: If you attend an external webinar, class, or conference, or participate in other learning opportunities, you must enter the learning event as external training in StarU Online to receive credit towards your goal.
How do I record my hours for a book, video, conference, or training attended outside the bank?
To receive credit for outside learning opportunities, such as reading a book, watching a video, attending a conference, or completing training outside the bank, see Entering External Training.
How many hours does a new associate need?
To calculate the number of professional development hours a new associate needs to complete for his/her first year, use this formula:
