Creating Personal Development Plans

As an associate, create your personal development plan by doing the following:

  1. On the StarAccess home page, click Menu > Myself > Personal Development (under Career & Education).
  2. Click Add a Plan. The Add a Plan window displays. 
  3. In the What would you like to accomplish text field, enter a goal for your plan. 
  4. In the Would you like to add more details about your plan text field, enter details about the outcomes you'd like to improve with the plan. See the Tips for Details tab.
  5. Click in the For this plan which skills and competencies will you work on area to open the drop-down list, select a skill. Repeat this step to add more than one. Note: Only select from the Skills section of the list. See the Skills Definitions tab.
  6.  In the When do you think you can complete this plan drop-down boxes, choose the month (left) and year (right) when you think you can complete the plan. 
  7. Click Save. The Plan page displays opened to the Tasks section. 
  8. In the Add a Task text box, enter a task. See the Tips for Tasks tab. 
  9. Click Add Task. Repeat steps 8-9 for as many tasks as you want to add.
  10. To save your plan, click Back (back arrow).


Tips for Details

Plan details should define the specific outcomes you want to improve with the development plan. For example:

Do not include the actions you will take to complete the plan - those are your Tasks.

Coaching Skills Includes: Peer-to-peer instruction (leading cross-training)

Continuing Education Higher education and/or formalized programs/workshops that count toward continuing education credit for an existing certification. Requires manager approval. 
Critical Thinking

Includes: Taking on a more challenging or complex task

Tackle a problem by using a logical, systematic, sequential approach. Ability to examine issues and ideas and to identify good and bad reasoning in a variety of fields with differing assumptions, contents, and methods.

Cross-Training Learning a new skill, process, or task that is outside the scope of your regular duties.
Decision Making Ability to make timely informed decisions that take into account the facts, constraints, and risks.

Interpersonal Skills

Ability to interact positively and to get along well with others. To notice, interpret, and anticipate others' concerns and feelings, and to communicate this awareness empathetically

Leadership/Mgmt Skills Includes: Diversity/Inclusion, Associate Engagement, Team Building
Promotes the Bank mission and goals, and demonstrates the way to achieve them. Ability to build and manage high-performing teams.
Problem Solving Ability to resolve difficult or complicated challenges with methods and strategies that produce advantageous results.
Product Knowledge Includes: Digital Passport
Exhibit strong knowledge of the products and services offered to clients.  Please identify specifics in Details. 
Project Management Ability to structure and direct the work of others for projects or programs. 
Strategic Thinking Ability to see and plan for the big, long-range picture for the Bank, industry, or community. 
Technical Skills
Time Management

Demonstrates personal leadership overuse of time, as well, as exhibits reasoning and good judgment in prioritizing work, projects, and deadlines.
