Certificate of Deposit Account Registry Service (CDARS) Program

Definition

The Certificate of Deposit  Account Registry Service (CDARS) is a service that offers benefits to depositors who want to combine the security of access to FDIC insurance above $250,000 with the convenience of working with just one financial institution. This program allows clients to invest their CD assets in FDIC-insured products at other institutions.

For these clients, CDARS provides security by insuring their Certificate of Deposit (CD) assets. CDARS also provides convenience, allowing clients to keep their accounts at one bank. Ordinarily, the client would have to split up his/her assets among several banks to gain coverage for amounts in excess of $250,000.

In this service, CCB is the custodian for CDARS deposits, and the sub-custodian is the Bank of New York Mellon. If a client wants to sign up for CDARS, please reach out to your Treasury Management Representative.
