CD Earnings Inquiry Screen

Rate Retention Tool

The Certificate of Deposit (CD) Earnings Inquiry screen allows Personal Bankers to compare the total earnings for each rate. This is often helpful when discussing rate options with clients, as well as, when building and retaining those client relationships.

For instance, if a client is contemplating moving funds to another institution due to a promotional rate, use the CD Earnings Inquiry screen to compare that promotional rate with Capital City Bank's best rate. Many times seeing the actual dollar amount the client would earn is enough to help them decide to maintain their relationship with us, even if their earnings may be a little lower.

To use this tool, do the following:

  1.  In Xperience > Silverlake > Time Deposit Menu, click CD Earnings Inquiry.
  2. Enter Name of Client.
  3. Enter CD Type.
    • Use the 2 character Product Type Code. A list of these codes can be found in the accordion below.

Example Scenario

A client received an offer from another financial institution for a 6 month CD with a 5% rate. The client comes to you to see what Capital City Bank's best rate for that 6 month term would be. You tell them it is 4.75%, and offer to do an inquiry to compare what the totals would be at each rate.

  • The total interest earned for a $75,000.00 CD for a 6 month term at 4.75% is $1,793.71.

  • The total interest earned for a $75,000.00 CD for a 6 month term at 5% is $1889.30

  • The earnings difference between the 2 totals is $95.59. While their total earnings with Capital City Bank may be slightly lower, the investment you are making in the relationship by taking the time to ask questions and share this information often makes all the difference to a client.
