Eligibility
Clients who request a BankOn or Empower Checking Account as a result of being referred by a participating non-profit organization are subject to normal account opening procedures, including a ChexSystem verification. Even if the client is approved by ChexSystems, you can move forward with opening the Empower account as requested.
Empower Checking is a second chance deposit account offered to clients who receive a decline when running ChexSystems. The Empower Checking Account is designed to give new clients the opportunity to have a checking account with CCB despite having difficulty keeping an account in the past or opening an account anywhere else.
Clients are eligible for Empower Checking when the following conditions are met:
- ChexSystems score is 526+
- No fraud closure reason
- No more than 1 unpaid competitor closure within 36 months
Associates cannot recommend clients to move from Empower Checking. Only clients can request to be moved from an Empower Checking account into a personal checking account once certain criteria are met.

- Capital City Bank checks are not offered with this account.

- CCBMobile App and Online Banking

Requirements for Moving
To move an account from Empower Checking to another product, the following conditions must be met:
- Account must be open for at least 12 months
- Account must have a positive balance on the day of the request
Client must have potential sales opportunities identified in Synapsys indicating CCBMobile Deposit Eligible Client
To determine if the client has potential sales opportunities identified in Synapsys, do the following:
- In Xperience > Products > Synapsys CRM > Desktop, enter the client's name or social security number.
- View the client's 10-second View > Potential Sales Opportunities field.
- If they are qualified, CCBMobile Deposit Eligible Client is displayed.
Moving Procedure
To move a client account from Empower Checking to another product, do the following:
- In Xperience click Customer & Account Inquiry.
- Enter the client name, CIF, or TIN and then click Search.
- Click New Event/Activity > Create New Event > Service Session.
- Click Deposit Services > DS-DDA/SAV product type change.
- From the Account Number drop-down menu, choose the account number.
- From the To Account Type drop-down menu, choose the product type.
- Click Save and Submit.
Reopening Charged-off Accounts
Note: Reopened accounts must remain as Empower Checking accounts, even if they have been opened for 12 months or more.

The check will be returned and no fee will be assessed on the clients account.

The Empower checking account is a checkless account, therefore checks should not be ordered for this account type.
DeleteWhat if someone, who is already in another product type, comes in and asks to be moved to Empower Checking?
Clients may come in and request the change, but associates must close out the current account and open a new account under the Empower Product. Please ensure clients understand that bill pay will no longer be available and the Empower account is checkless.
