Point of Sale Limit

Point of sale (POS):

The POS limit includes any debit card transactions that are not completed at an Automated Teller Machine (ATM).

This includes transactions completed:

  • In person
  • Over the phone
  • Online
  • As recurring
  • Using Google wallet, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Android Pay, etc.
  • As cash advances at a financial institution

The total cumulative daily limit for these transactions is $3,500 for consumer cards, $5,000 for private client cards  and $5,000 for business cards. This limit can be raised in certain circumstances (see the Forced Authorization tab).

ATM Withdrawal Limit

Automated Teller Machine (ATM):

The ATM limit includes any withdrawal at a CCB or foreign (non-CCB) ATM.

The total cumulative daily limit for these transactions is $765. This limit cannot be raised.

Some foreign ATMs may have a lower withdrawal limit. We cannot raise the limit on a foreign ATM, but clients can choose to visit different ATMs until they have reached the $765 daily withdrawal limit.

Stand In Limit

Stand In:

The Stand In limit is used in isolated instances when our system is unable to connect to the VISA DPS system for real time balances to approve ATM or Point of Sale (POS) transactions.

During Stand In, the cumulative limit is $205 for ATM transactions and $500 for POS transactions.

This limit cannot be raised. Once the connection between our system and VISA DPS has been reestablished, normal POS and ATM limits will resume.

Forced Authorization

Forced Authorization:

Clients can request a raise on their debit card point of sale limit for a specific purchase. Generally, the limit cannot be raised more than double the normal limit.  To increase debit card limits click here.

Business debit card limits can be raised to $10,000, private client debit card limits can be raised to $10,000, and consumer debit card limits can be raised to $7,000.

The increase remains in place for the specified transaction only.

The client’s daily debit card limit will be exceeded once the transaction is processed. No other purchases can be approved for the day.
