Overview:
Transactions will block if a merchant attempts to run the transmission through twice, called a duplicate transmission. This happens most often with pre-authorizations of car rentals, hotel reservations, and cruise ship purchases.
A transaction that is blocking for duplicate transmission cannot be approved. Instead, ask the merchant to cancel the initial transaction, and run a brand new transaction.
If this is not possible, ask the client:
- If there is an ATM nearby:
- Cruise ships usually have one on board, and the client may be able to pay in cash.
- If they have another payment method available, such as:
- Another debit or credit card, or cash
- This may be a good opportunity to discuss a Capital City Bank credit card
