Overview
To our clients, who entrust us with their money, all associates of Capital City Bank must convey a professional and dependable image. Whether or not our job responsibilities place us in direct client contact, we represent the Bank with our appearance as well as our actions. It is important that the conduct and general appearance of all our associates be appropriate for our professional banking environment. While recognizing the existence of a changing society, the Bank expects that each associate’s dress, grooming, and personal hygiene be appropriate to the workplace and enhance the business image of the Bank. Meeting this expectation is an ongoing requirement of employment with the Bank. We trust our Associates to exercise good judgment in always following this policy and we empower our managers to enforce it in their respective offices.
To create a consistent expectation of acceptable dress across ALL of our Retail offices, a list of approved guidelines for Retail managers to use when determining the appropriateness of an associate's attire can be found in the Retail Dress Code Expectations tab.
General Appearance Standards
We serve a very diverse group of clients and communities, and it is important to avoid offending anyone or losing their confidence. Therefore, clothing that is too trendy or too sporty is considered unacceptable, as are extreme hair styles or jewelry. Departures from conventional business or professional attire are not permitted, whether an associate has direct client contact or infrequent client contact. Furthermore, all associates are expected to maintain acceptable personal grooming and hygiene standards.
Authority to enforce this policy rests with individual managers. Managers will determine appropriateness of attire. If an associate reports for work improperly dressed or groomed, he or she will be instructed by the manager to return home to change clothes, which will be done on the associate’s own time, off the clock. Repeated violations of this policy will be cause for disciplinary action.
Hairstyles
Hairstyles should be professional, clean, and neatly styled. Associates without beards or mustaches must always be clean-shaven. Those with beards or mustaches should always keep them well-groomed. Managers will use their individual discretion in assessing what is appropriate for their office, department, or location.
Footwear
Business style shoes should be worn and should be kept clean and polished. Safety, comfort, and appearance are the main consideration for acceptable footwear. Associates must wear socks with applicable shoes. Appropriate dress sandals may be worn by associates. It is recommended, but not required, that associates wear hosiery with dresses and skirts.
Jewelry
In general, visible body piercing (for example: eyebrow rings, tongue rings, lip rings, nose rings, ear gauges) is not permitted. Associate’s earrings and other jewelry such as watches, rings, or bracelets, should be kept to a minimum and conservative standard.
Tattoos
Tattoos may be permitted, if non-offensive, and the culture of the market/department supports such. Managers will use their individual discretion in assessing what is appropriate for their office or department.
Clothing Guidelines
Guidelines for acceptable dress varies depending on whether an associate's job is client facing or not. For additional details on what the dress code expectations are for Retail offices, see the Retail Dress Code Expectations.
