Capital City Bank (CCB) cashes Traveler Checks and Gift Cheques for clients ONLY. There are various types of checks; however, the most common types are listed below. Refer to your Lead Teller (LT) if you are presented with a Traveler Check or Gift Cheque you are not familiar with.

• American Express Traveler Cheques
• American Express Gift Cheques
• Visa Travelers Checks
• MasterCard Travelers Check

Traveler's checks are usually in denominations of $20, $50 and $100. However, they may also be in a $500 or $1000 denomination. American Express Gift Cheques are issued in denominations of $25, $50, and $100. Gift Cheques do not come in a denomination larger than $100. All checks must be U.S. Dollars.

Check acceptance procedures for cash or deposit:

1. ID verification is required.
2. Examine the check, pay special attention to key security features, including:
   • Watermark, background pattern, holographic patterns.
   • Engraved printing. 
     • Engraved printing gives a traveler's check a raised texture to the touch. A counterfeit check will usually have a uniformly flat surface.
3. The check should already have a signature in the space provided for the traveler check purchaser or the bearer of a gift check.
4. Upon encashment or deposit the individual is required to countersign the check(s). Be sure to watch the individual sign the check(s) in the space provided for the countersignature.
5. If the check(s) presented is already countersigned, ask the individual to sign the check(s) again, on the reverse side.
   • Check the signature. Compare the countersignature with the purchaser/holder signature appearing on the check(s).
   • If the signatures do not match, ask the individual to countersign the check(s) again, on the reverse side.
   • In the case of a Dual Signature Travelers Checks, the countersignature must match one of the two original signatures.
