When dealing with a new or revised business account, previously imaged legal documents MUST be printed by the associate and reviewed with the client to determine if all information is current and up to date. Obtain all required legal documents from the client for new and revised business accounts. Complete the identification verification process for the business entity and the signers present to open or revise the account. Refer to Identification Verification Procedures.
Review business legal documents for the following reasons:
- Authorization of Authority – Do the documents provided give direction on the individuals authorized to open or revise an account for the entity?
- Names of officers/partners/members – Are the names listed current or have they been revised?
- Changes being requested – If meeting minutes and/or other documents are provided, do they support the requested changes?
