Cash Buy/ Sell
Cash may be bought or sold between the following drawers:
- Teller drawer
- Vault
- Cash dispenser
- Teller Cash Recycler (TCR)
The procedures must be completed each time a drawer to drawer cash buy/sell transaction occurs, no matter the amount of the transaction or the time of day the buy/sell occurs.
See Teller and Office Cash Buy/Sell General Ledger for additional information.
Procedures
ALL transfers (buy/sell/exchange) of currency and/or coin in any amount (single bills, coin, half strap, and bundle) must be processed in the system drawer as a Cash Buy or Cash Sell between the two drawers.
Note: Buy/Sell transactions processed by a Lead Teller (LT) (Single Control Vault) from their Teller Drawer to the Vault Drawer do not require a dual control signature.
Each associate must process their respective buy/sell transaction. To buy/sell/exchange currency and/or coin, do the following:
- In Xperience > Teller Processing, use Speed Keys O Buy Cash and P Sell Cash.
- In the Instrument field, enter the Drawer #.
- List the exact denominations bought and sold for each system transaction and hit F6 to print a receipt listing the denominations and total.
- Click OK.
- On each buy/sell receipt, dual signature (first initial, last name) are required.
- Ensure the writing is clear, concise, and placed on the back of the receipt.
Note: Each buy/sell receipt with denominations and totals (F6 or hand written) must be completed within 30 minutes or less of one another and contain dual signatures (first initial, last name).
Dual Control Piece Count Requirements
A dual control piece count of all currency/coin must be conducted on unassigned drawers when adding or removing currency. Dual Control Piece Count is required on the following drawers:
- Teller drawer / working cash drawer
- Vault
- Cash dispenser
- Teller Cash Recycler (TCR)
If, at the time of a Drawer to Drawer transaction, both associates fail to practice dual control and count currency/coin, then both associates assume any potential overage/shortage losses and may or may not be considered as recoverable based on a final assessment by Retail Support.
When completing a dual control piece count, ensure the following:
- The receiving associate must re-strap or unstrap all currency prior to placing currency into a teller drawer.
- The receiving associate must sign (first initial/full last name) any strapped currency.
- Count currency bought by the working cash drawer under dual control.
- Currency bought by the working cash drawer can be kept in the seller's strap for preparation to sell to the vault.
- These straps must be kept segregated from the cash of the working cash drawer.
- If the straps are co-mingled with the working cash drawer straps, they can't be sold to the vault without being re-strapped and recounted under dual control.
- Once this currency becomes part of their working drawer supply, the currency must be re-strapped and contain the associate's signature (first initial/full last name).
- Currency sold to the vault drawer must contain the selling associate's teller stamp and signature (first initial/full last name).
- The LT (Single Control Vault) or Acting Vault Custodian (Dual Control Vault) must initial the strap confirming dual control piece count.
- A LT (Single Control Vault) buying/selling from the vault to their drawer does not require dual control piece count.
