There are various types of drawers where cash and/or coin are used and these drawers require appropriate handling.
Click on the accordions below to learn about the types of drawers:
Teller Drawer / Working Cash Drawer
A teller drawer is assigned to a specific associate to handle daily cash transactions for clients. No associate can have 2 teller drawers assigned to them at the same office or remote drive-thru facility.
A working cash drawer is assigned to a specific associate to handle cash transactions for clients and has a higher drawer limit, allowing the associate to have a working supply of currency/coin needed during the day behind the teller line.
Vault
A secure area of an office used to hold currency, coin, negotiable and/or other valuable items. Click here for information on vault access.
Teller Cash Recycler (TCR) Drawer
A teller cash recycler (TCR) drawer is an extension of a teller drawer for processing both cash-in and cash-out client transactions. This drawer is not assigned to a specific associate.
Dual TCRs can be utilized by 2 tellers and solo TCRs are utilized by 1 teller. The cassettes on both dual and solo TCRs must be entered under dual control.
Associates may never have single access to the cash cassettes in the TCR.
