Selecting a Co-Star

A Co-Star is a partner and a guide that helps new associates build a foundation of knowledge.  They partner with managers to deliver a consistently positive onboarding experience. and they are the go-to resource for your new associate throughout their onboarding and new-hire period.

You will assign a Co-Star for each new associate that joins your team. Your goal is to select someone with strong knowledge and skills with the tasks they'll complete; but also an ability to be approachable when the new associate has questions or wants to talk through situations or challenges that might arise during the learning process.

Depending on your office, department, and the requirements of the role; there are a few ways Co-Stars can be used to support the new associate on your team.

Single Co-Star
Ideal for Retail Delivery Positions, Operations, Small Departments/Offices
Select a Co-Star to work with the new associate during the onboarding and new-hire period. Pick a Co-Star that is proficient with the tasks of the role, has the time and desire to teach/mentor, and has a personality that will mesh well with the new associate.
Multiple Co-Stars
Ideal for Revenue, Regional Experience Managers
Select a primary Co-Star to work with the new associate during the onboarding and new-hire period and identify additional subject matter Co-Stars to assist with learning specific processes and systems. In most cases, the primary Co-Star will assist, coordinate, and support the new associate meeting with the additional Co-Stars.

In either scenario, the Co-Star is a short-duration role confined to a new associate's onboarding period. It does not come with a pay increase. However, the Co-Star role is an excellent development opportunity for associates who are ready for, and are interested in, taking on greater responsibility - either in developing their cross training or leadership ability.
