Note: Before you start this process, make sure you have a USB headset plugged in.
To be able to accept and negotiate Bank Direct phone calls while working remotely, Bank Direct uses the IP Communicator or Soft Phone.
IP Communicator is a virtual phone on your computer screen. Although it looks different than the desk phone, it has the same functionality. Many of the options can be selected or typed with your computer mouse and keyboard.
Logging In
- Select the Cisco IP Communicator desktop icon.
- Note: If you are unable to locate it on your desktop, click on the Windows key and search Cisco IP Communicator.
- To register your phone and log in, click on the Globe icon. (This is equivalent to pressing the gear button on your desk phone.)
- In the menu options, choose Extension Mobility.
- Enter your network ID.
- Enter the 12345.
- Click Submit.
Soft Phone Audio
For some, the Audio Tuning Wizard automatically pops up when you start your IP Communicator Soft Phone. If this does not happen, you may need to configure it manually.
- At the top of the Soft Phone screen, click on the left black button.

- Select Audio Tuning Wizard.
- From the drop-down menu, select your specific USB headset type.
- Click Next.
- Listening through your headset, complete prompts for preferred volume.
- Click the Play button to test and adjust volume levels through the headset.
- Talk in to the microphone to make sure that it is registering the correct sound.
- At the end of the prompts, click Finish.
