Corporate Banking

Overview

As part of the Core Market Lending division under Revenue, the Corporate Banking team builds relationships and provides exceptional client service to local business owners. They work with business clients with annual revenues of $3 million or more. Their diverse client base includes manufacturers, craftsmen, churches, car dealerships, convenience stores, medical practices, and attorneys, among others. These bankers function as point-persons in their client relationships and assist with deposit and lending needs. They also refer clients to other Capital City partners when appropriate.

Whether these clients need to purchase an X-ray machine, a drill rig, a share of a business, or a new building, corporate bankers can help. This team offers numerous lending options—loans, lines of credit, and letters of credit, among others—to meet the unique needs of each client.

While many associates believe the Corporate Banking team focuses their attention solely on creating loans, they place an equal emphasis on deposit products as well. This department works very closely with Treasury Management to ensure clients are making the most of their deposit relationship.

Corporate Banking is part of the Core Lending division within Revenue.

What is the difference between Corporate Banking and Commercial Real Estate Lending?

While both areas focus on client relationships, Corporate Banking finances owner-occupied Real Estate, where revenue is generated by the successful operation of a business (the office building for a dentist, for example). Commercial Real Estate finances income-producing land or properties, thereby generating revenue by leasing or selling the property for profit.

Making Referrals

The most important thing to remember about making referrals to Corporate Banking is to get the client or prospect to the right department the first time. The more times a future client is passed around, the more likely we are to lose them to the competition. Know your departments and refer, refer, refer.

Below are some sample referral scenarios for Corporate Banking.
