Personal consumer accounts are held for personal, family or household use.
Click on the tabs below to learn more about personal consumer accounts.
Individual
Individual consumer accounts are intended for one consumer. The funds are owned by the account holder.
The account owner may authorize the addition of a convenience signer, agent or authorized signer to his/her individual checking account. Note: A convenience signer can ONLY be added to a single party account in Florida and Georgia. Alabama does not allow for convenience signers on accounts.
The signature card is signed by the account holder/individual.
Joint
Joint consumer accounts are intended for two or more consumers. The funds are owned equally by all joint owners. In Florida a joint account is held by a husband and wife only; no other joint owners named on the account; funds are held as tenancy by the entirety. In this method of ownership, the husband and wife simultaneously own the account as one person.
Payable on Death (POD)
A payable on death (POD) account is a deposit account owned by one or more persons called parties. The funds are owned by the parties and are payable on death to one or more beneficiaries. The beneficiaries have no ownership in the account during the lifetime of the account owner(s).
Power of Attorney (POA)
A Power of Attorney is a legal document giving one person (agent or attorney-in-fact) the power to act for another person (the principal). The agent has authority to perform certain specified acts, such as transfer of funds, on behalf of the principal.
