Building a Non-Personal CIF

Business CIF

Overview

The information in this article is to assist you in building CIF records for non-personal clients for any demand deposit or loan account.

Obtain proper consumer information to verify the identity of all individual owners, joint owners and any convenience signers prior to opening or revising an account. Click here for client identification details.

Note: Use only UPPER CASE letters and no punctuation when creating CIF records.

Determine if the client/account requires a ChexSystems inquiry. 

Complete a Due Diligence questionnaire using Verafin. For more information on Verafin click here.  Note: Obtain the NAICS code from Verafin.

Process

  1. In Xperience > SilverLake >  StreamLine Platform Menu > Create New Accounts.
  2. On the Inquiry/Website Selection page, click the appropriate boxes for the ChexSystems inquiry.
  3. Click OK.
  4. On the StreamLine New Account Entry page, do the following.
    1. In the Branch field, enter Branch number
    2. From the Application drop-down menu, select the product type:
      • DDA = Checking
      • T = Time Deposit (CD's, IRA)
    3. In the Platform Type field, click the ellipsis https://static.helpjuice.com/helpjuice_production/uploads/upload/image/3854/direct/1572974106700-1572974106700.png for product options.
    4. Select the product type.
    5. Click OK.
    6. In the Account Number field, click the ellipsis https://static.helpjuice.com/helpjuice_production/uploads/upload/image/3854/direct/1572974106700-1572974106700.png to populate the account number and click OK.
    7. Enter the client's Non-Individual (business) Name.
  5. Click OK.
  6. On the New Customer page click Non-Individual.
  7. Using ALL CAPS, enter the Non-Individual (business) Name.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Enter the address, city, state and zip. Note: This can be a PO box, however you must enter a physical address on the IRS Address page.
  10. Tax ID

    • Enter the Tax ID number. 
      • For DBA - leave blank.
  11. Tax ID Type

    1. For DBA CIF choose  N NO TIN-NON RPT BUS.
    2. For all other non-personal CIF types T BUSINESS.
    3. Click Select.


  12. Tax ID Certification

    1. Choose C.

    2. Click Select.


  13. Tax ID Certification Date

    From the TAX ID Certification Date drop-down menu, choose Today as the certification date.



  14. Class

    1. Click Next Record.
    2. Choose N NON-PERSONAL.
    3. Click Select.


  15. Employer Name

    Enter the Non-Individual (business) Name.



  16. Officer(s)

    1. If instructed to add an officer, click the ellipsis  and choose the officer name.
    2. Click Select.
    3. Click OK.


  17. IRS Address Information

    If you entered a PO BOX for the mailing address, you must enter a physical address in the IRS address fields.



  18. Customer Identification Maintenance Page

    Click Add to enter identification details. Note: For a business CIF you will enter details from the required legal documents.



  19. Identification Code

    1. Click the ellipsis to choose from the list of Legal Documents based on entity type.
      • Click here for details on Business Formation Legal Documents Required.
      • Note: For sole-proprietor accounts, when building the CIF for a DBA no Legal Documents are required. Click OK then click Override.
    2. Click Select.


  20. Identification Number

    Enter the number exactly as printed on the identification type provided. If the identification type does not contain a number, enter N/A.



  21. Issued By

    Leave this field blank.



  22. Date of Issuance

    Leave this field blank.



  23. Expiration Date

    Leave this field blank.



  24. Verified By

    Enter your initials date verified and then click OK.



  25. Verify 2 forms of Identification 

    1. Enter entity documentation (for example: Articles of Incorporation/Organization) for businesses (except sole-proprietors).
    2. Click OK.


  26. New Customer Information page

    1. Enter the Inquiry ID Code chosen by the client. Note: If the client does not want to establish an Inquiry ID Code, enter SEND PAC in the Inquiry ID Code field.


  27. NAICS Code

    Best Practice: Obtain the NAICS code from Verafin.

    If a NAICS code was not obtained from Verafin, do the following:
    1. Click the ellipsis to choose code based on entity.
    2. Click Sort
    3. Click the Sort Selection drop-down arrow to choose 2- NAIC Description.
    4. Click OK.
    5. In the NAI Classification Codes search field, enter the type of business (for example: automotive).
    6. Select the code that best describes the type of business.
    7. Click OK.
  28. FinCEN Legal Entity

    Click the drop-down arrow to choose E- Exclude.

  29. Exclusion Reason

    1. Click the ellipsis to choose one of the following:
      • CL Capture in Loan
      • CV Capture in Verafin
    2. Click Select.
    3. Click OK.


  30. Insider Code

    Note: Use this code only when building a CIF for a Capital City Bank associate.

    1. Choose the appropriate insider code.
    2. Click Select.
    3. Click OK.


  31. E-mail Address

    Enter the client's email address.

    If the client does not have, or does not want to disclose an email, do the following:

    1. Leave the field blank.
    2. Click Shift + F1to override the field.
      • DO NOT enter NA, N/A or Invalid.



  32. Occupation/Nature of Business

    1. Enter occupation (for example: electrician, underwriter, student, unemployed, retired from _____________).
    2. Click OK.


  33. Contact Information

    1. Click the appropriate phone type then click Select.
    2. Enter contact number.
    3. Click OK twice.
    4. Continue the above steps until all contact numbers have been entered, and then click OK.
    5. Click OK again on the next page. 


  34. CIF Message Maintenance

    Do not enter anything on this page. Click OK.



  35. StreamLine New Account Entry 

    Click OK. The page now appears as follows:
