Definition

Public Funds accounts are opened for Municipal, County, or State Government departments. US Government accounts are opened for Federal Government agencies and departments. Note: Contact the Institutional Banking Officer before opening Public Funds or US Government Funds accounts.

Required Documentation to Open Account

Public Funds
  • Organization specific documents indicating current officer/signers (for example: Meeting minutes or letter on organization letterhead)
  • Public Deposit Identification and Acknowledgement form (FL only and if required by a state agency; new account only)
For revised accounts:

  • Updated or revised bylaws or meeting minutes documenting requested changes

US Government Funds
  • Authorization from Institutional Banking Officer (required for all new accounts)

Tax Identification Number (TIN)

The Public/ US Government entity's Employer Identification Number (EIN) is used for Internal Revenue Services (IRS) reporting.

Account Titling

Public Funds

  1. Title the account in the name of the Municipal, County, or State Government department for the Public Funds account
    • Note: The client's name auto-populates in the Customer Name field

US Government Funds

  1. Title the account in the name of the Federal Government agency
    • Note: Client's name auto-populates in the Customer Name field.


Ownership / Signature Requirements

The signature card with ALL authorized signer(s) signature(s) above their name(s) in the Signatures section is required.
