When the responsible individual designated on a Coverdell Education Savings Account (CESA) dies before the beneficiary (child) reaches the age of majority, the trustee of the CESA must designate a successor.
In order to designate a successor do the following:
- In Xperience > SilverLake > StreamLine Platform Menu > Recall Existing Account from Core.
- Click OK.
- From the Application drop-down menu, select T = Time Deposit.
- Enter the account number in the Account Number field.
- Click Tab. The Branch field fills in.
- In the Platform Type field click the ellipsis
.
- Choose *MD MISCELLANEOUS CD DOCUMENTS.
- Click OK on each screen until you reach the MISCELLANEOUS CESA IRA FORMS screen.
- In the CESA Designation of Successor field, type Y.
- Click OK.
- Complete sections 1 and 2.
- Print documents or use eSign to have the responsible individual and witness sign and date section 3. See eSign for more information. Note: The witness cannot be the bank associate performing the tasks for designating successor of the CESA.
- The Bank representative must also sign and date the signature of Custodian/Trustee field.
- Place the CESA Designation of Successor form not submitted through eSign with the daily work for imaging following the Document Imaging Procedures.
