Debit Card Reissue Schedule
- Cards expire 3 years from their issuance date.
- Expiring debit cards are automatically reissued at the beginning of the month the card is set to expire and mailed to the address on file.
Expiration Date
- Expiring debit cards are active through the last day of the month. For example: a card expiring 01/19 is active through January 31, 2019.
Reissued Cards
- Reissued debit cards retain the same card number and PIN, but have a new CVV code and expiration date.
- Reissued debit cards are mailed in an inactive status. The client must activate the reissued card through the Visa Card Line VRU.
Expiring Card Early Deactivation
- The cardholder can continue to use the old card until the new one arrives and has been activated.
- Once a reissued card has been activated by the client, the expiring card will be deactivated, regardless of the printed expiration date.
Reissued Debit Card Fee
- There is no fee for the client to receive a reissued card due to previous card expiration.
Two Card Reissue Rule
- The expiration date of one current card and one card reorder are stored in Passport.
- If a second reorder is placed (three cards in total) then the oldest card falls off of the system and no longer works. One of the two newer cards must be activated and used.
- For example:
- The client's card has an expiration date of 03/19. In February 2019 the client receives a reordered card with an expiration date of 3/22. The client inadvertently shreds the new card without activating it. A banker reorders the client a card with an expiration date of 4/22. The card with the expiration date of 3/19 falls off of the system and no longer works. The client must then wait for the 4/22 card to arrive.
